Tired of getting spam-filtered and sending the same robotic emails over and over? What if you could create lots of unique, personalized emails from just one template?

That’s where spintax comes in—it’s a simple tool to help you write better emails and marketing content. In this guide, you’ll learn how to use it to improve your emails, landing pages, and more.

Let’s dive in and start getting better results!

What is spintax?

Here’s a simple explanation:

Spintax –

A way to create different versions of the same content by replacing certain words or phrases while keeping the original meaning.

Spinning –

The act of taking a piece of text and generating new variations by swapping out words and phrases with alternatives.

Syntax –

The specific format used to mark which parts of the content will change.

In short, spintax works like a template, helping you quickly create fresh versions of your text whenever you need them. This helps avoid spam filters and makes the email feel more personal.

When to use spintax in cold email sequences?

Now that you know what spintax is and why it’s useful, let’s see how you can start using it in your cold emails and content creation.

Many email tools, Lemlist, or PersistIQ, let you create templates and sequences for outreach.

Here’s how you can add spintax:

1. Greeting Spintax

{Hello {{first_name}},|Hi {{first_name}},|Hey {{first_name}},|Hey there {{first_name}},|Howdy. {{first_name}},|Good {{sl_time_of_day}} {{first_name}},|Hi {{first_name}}, Happy {{sl_day_of_week}}!|Happy {{sl_day_of_week}}, {{first_name}}!|Hello {{first_name}}, Happy {{sl_day_of_week}}!}

This gives us 9 possible greetings

2. Closing / Sign-Off

{Regards|Thanks|Thank you|Best Regards|Looking forward to hearing from you|Looking forward to your response|Looking forward to your reply|Best Wishes|Cheers|Best|Respectfully},

This gives us 12 possible sign offs

3. Quotes

Open up ChatGPT & type this in:

"Tell me 30 inspirational quotes that are less than 14 words, and tell me who said them"

Continue this process with ChatGPT and keep asking for -

“30 more unique quotes that it didn't say before”

Once we get to about 150-200 we should be good to go!
Paste these all into a Google sheet in a column format like the below screenshot.

This is the prompt for getting the quotes

This is what the quotes should look like in the column

Now you can just put this placeholder variable in your email template on Instantly or Smartlead. Example below

Now you have hundreds of UNIQUE quotes that will be added to your emails along with your other spintax

Chicago, IL 60601

{{Quote}}

4. Opt-Out Message

Go into ChatGPT and type in whatever your Opt-out message is.

For this example we are going to use this:

"Please reply not interested in you do not wish to hear from me again or believe you have received this email in error"

We asked ChatGPT to spintax this with 35 variations and it gave us this.

We will copy this code:

{

  Please reply {if not interested in further communication | to discontinue}.

  {If uninterested, reply with 'Not Interested.' | Feel free to reply 'Uninterested' to stop.}

  Let us know with '{No further emails, please | Stop contact}'.

  Respond '{Not interested | Do not wish to hear from me}' to end communication.

  {If disinterested, reply 'No more contact.' | If you believe this email was sent in error, reply accordingly.}

  {Feel free to respond 'Unsubscribe' to halt | Reply 'No further messages wanted' to unsubscribe.}

  If not interested, reply '{No more emails required | Do not wish to receive further communication.}'

  {To cease, reply 'Do not contact me again.' | If you believe this message is an error, reply accordingly.}

  {Reply 'Uninterested in further emails' to stop | If uninterested, reply 'Stop correspondence.'}

  {If not interested, reply 'Discontinue.' | Let us know by replying 'Received in error.'}

  {Respond 'No further communication necessary.' | To halt, reply 'Not interested anymore.'}

  {If you believe this message was sent in error, reply accordingly. | Reply 'No more emails wanted' to unsubscribe.}

  {If uninterested, reply 'Stop emailing.' | To stop, reply 'Discontinue contact.'}

  {Please reply if not interested in further communication | If uninterested, reply to discontinue.}

  {To opt out, reply with 'Not Interested.' | If disinterested, reply 'No more contact.'}

  {Feel free to reply 'Uninterested' to stop. | Let us know with 'No further emails, please.'}

  {Respond 'Not interested' to end communication. | If uninterested, reply 'Cease contact.'}

  {Reply 'No more messages wanted' to unsubscribe. | If not interested, reply accordingly.}

  {To stop, reply 'No further emails required.' | Feel free to respond 'Unsubscribe' to halt.}

  {Reply 'Do not contact again' if uninterested. | To discontinue, reply 'No more emails, please.'}

  {If uninterested, reply 'Opt out.' | Reply 'Stop communication' to unsubscribe.}

  {If disinterested, reply 'No more messages.' | Respond 'Not interested in further contact.'}

  {Let us know by replying 'No more emails.' | If not interested, reply 'End contact.'}

  {Feel free to reply 'Not interested anymore.' | To halt, reply 'Do not contact me again.'}

  {Reply 'Uninterested in further emails' to stop. | If uninterested, reply 'Stop correspondence.'}

  {To unsubscribe, reply 'No more emails needed.' | If not interested, reply 'Discontinue.'}

  {Respond 'No further communication necessary.' | Let us know by replying 'Not interested anymore.'}

  {To cease, reply 'Do not contact further.' | Reply 'No more emails wanted' to unsubscribe.}

  {If uninterested, reply 'Stop emailing.' | To stop, reply 'Discontinue contact.'}

}

Final Thoughts:

Just like that we now have 35 variations for an opt-out message. We can just copy and paste this right into our email campaign. No need for variables in Google Sheets

9 Variations for Greetings, 12 Variations for Closing, 200 Quote Variations and 35 Opt Out Variations

This gives us 226,800 possible variations

We can obviously go harder and make this more but 226k variations is more than enough. Plus adding different first names, personalization and offer variations. Every email will be 1 of 1 & unique.
